Tom Osborn is the Co-Founder and CEO of Shamiri Institute, a purpose-driven startup that is building a future where young people, anywhere, can actualize their life outcomes. Shamiri combines rigorous social science research with deep contextual knowledge to provide affordable, personalized, and community-driven mental health to youths across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Tom was born and raised in poverty in rural Kenya. received over a quarter million dollars in scholarship to make his education possible. He is a 2021 TED Fellow and an Acumen Fellow. At 18, he was named the youngest Echoing Green Fellow. At 19, he was named on the global Forbes' 30 under 30 list in Social Entrepreneurship. Tom graduated from Harvard College with a High Honors degree in Psychology. He is also the Africa Director of Cultural Agents, a platform for academics, artists, community leaders, and active citizens.
